This painting was from a limited series of works painted with the artist’s non-dominant left hand in an attempt to free creativity once again. Painting with the non-dominant hand loosens the mark making and releases control allowing a purely instinctive, colour focussed work to emerge. This method of painting is identified by the signature in the bottom left corner of the work, instead of the usual right-hand corner.
The scene is from a photograph taken from the South West Coast Path looking west across Polurrian Cove, on The Lizard.
