Winter-Themed Sketch & Print (ages 5-11) Fridays 3:45-4:45pm
Wrap up warm and get ready for a winter-inspired creative adventure!
Over four weeks, young artists will explore the magic of the winter season, discovering how to capture its wildlife, frosty landscapes and cosy scenes through drawing and printmaking.
We’ll begin by developing essential sketching skills, experimenting with line, shading, tone and texture to bring our winter subjects to life. Using a mixture of real objects and inspiring images, we’ll draw everything from cheeky robins and graceful deer to icy patterns, snowy landscapes and glowing log fires. Children will learn how to look closely, build up details and use different marks to create depth, atmosphere and texture in their drawings.
Then it’s time to get experimental! We’ll transform our drawings into fabulous prints, exploring three exciting printmaking techniques: lino printing, monoprinting and styrofoam printing. Children will discover how to create patterns, textures and bold designs, experimenting with different papers, colours and backgrounds to see how each print can become something completely unique.
Every week brings a new technique to master, creative challenges to try and opportunities to experiment. We’ll finish the unit by choosing a favourite print to frame and take home — a beautiful, handmade piece of winter-inspired artwork to treasure!
Perfect for budding artists aged 5–11, this unit combines practical art skills, seasonal inspiration and plenty of creative discovery. Come ready to sketch, experiment, get inky and make something amazing!
This nurturing and skills-focused club is designed to encourage imagination, build self-confidence and allow children to express themselves freely through art.
Led by professional artist and fully trained primary school teacher Shelley Perry, sessions are welcoming, supportive and suitable for all abilities, whether your child already loves art or is just beginning their creative journey.
✨ FREE Trial Week Available!
If your mini artist would like to try a session before committing to the full unit, get in touch to book a free trial. (send me an email to enquire: shelleyperry@mail.com)
